In continuing my interest in obscuring text, I played around with collapsing letters by rolling them up around their center points (or focal points), and experimenting with how this looked. I'd print a letter with a center point marked, and small indicators of degrees around the circumference of the circle. On the scanner bed, I'd capture the letter at each increment, and the resulting scans were remarkably beautiful in the way they became more and more blurred as the letter cone became taller, and the content farther away from the scanner bed.
I took the scanned files and cleaned them up, removing the circle and markings, and any major imperfections. After aligning them in Photoshop, I made some simple gifs showing the transformation of the letters.
